Class #1: Knife Skills • Saturday, September 30th, 10 a.m.
Knife skills are among the most important skills a home cook needs to develop. You will learn about knife construction, the proper knife to use for a specific task and how to sharpen and take care of your knives. You will take home enough cut vegetables to make a soup. Please bring your favorite cooking knife to class.
Class #2: Stocks & Sauces • Sunday, October 15th, 10 a.m.
At this class you will learn the very basics of cooking. Your cooking foundation will have new meaning once you learn the basics for making a Chicken and Beef Stock and onto the Mother Sauces.
Class #3: Marinades & Brining • Sunday, October 22nd, 10 a.m.
Learn how to flavor, moisturize, and tenderize ingredients before cooking to make them succulent and tasty. Although usually associated with meats, marinades are also used to “flavorize” fish, veggies, and even fruit!
Class #4: Sautéing & Pan Frying • Sunday, November 12th, 10 a.m.
Learn the techniques for perfect sautéing and pan frying. The key is to use thinly sliced ingredients. It’s quick, easy cooking that will put a delicious dinner on the table in no time.
Class #5: Roasting & Baking • Sunday, December 3rd, 10 a.m.
An oven is an oven, no matter what you cook inside, right? Wrong. Here’s the difference: you “roast” meat and “bake” corn bread, cakes and pies. In this class you will learn to do both with great success.
Individual classes are $85 – or enjoy a $25 savings when you sign up for the series of 5 classes for $400. Cost includes lots of food, cooking instruction and tips, cooking in a commercial kitchen, and a recipe booklet for each class.
